Hearing is the ability to perceive sound by detecting vibrations through the ear
Humans have a fairly narrow range of hearing compared to other species – frequencies that we are capable of hearing are between 20 Hz and 20,000 Hz.

3 Types of Hearing Loss
Conductive hearing loss (CHL) – due to problems with the ear canal, eardrum, or middle ear and its little bones
(the malleus, incus, and stapes).

Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) – due to problems of the inner ear, also known as nerve-related hearing loss.

Mixed hearing loss (MHL) – refers to a combination of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss. This means that there may be damage in the outer or middle ear and in the inner ear (cochlea) or auditory nerve.
